About the practice

ReThread Collective is an upcycling studio and creative collective dedicated to transforming discarded textiles and pre-loved materials into thoughtfully reimagined pieces. Our practice centers around creative reuse, combining traditional sewing techniques with experimentation, resourcefulness, and a love for the unexpected. Working primarily with secondhand clothing, vintage denim, fabric remnants, and reclaimed textiles, we create one-of-a-kind apparel, accessories, and handmade goods that celebrate the character and history of their original materials. Each piece begins with the materials themselves, allowing their textures, colors, and imperfections to inspire the design. Through deconstruction, reconstruction, repair, and creative problem-solving, we give new purpose to items that might otherwise be discarded. Beyond our own designs, ReThread Collective collaborates with local artists and makers who share our commitment to reducing textile waste and encouraging more thoughtful consumption. We believe sustainability doesn’t have to sacrifice individuality or creativity. By embracing what already exists, we aim to challenge throwaway culture and demonstrate the beauty and possibilities of making something new from something old.
