About the practice

Eva Joan began in 2021 as a small creative repair studio in New York’s West Village, founded by Bjorn Eva Park and Emma Villeneuve. Neither founder began as a professional tailor: Park worked in fashion production design and Villeneuve in film and commercial set design, but both brought a maker’s instinct and a belief that clothing worth loving is worth repairing. The studio’s name combines the names of their grandmothers, two creative women who did not dispose of things easily. Eva Joan approaches repair as reinvention rather than concealment. Rather than simply hiding damage, its team uses patches, hand stitching, chain stitch, embroidery, embellishment and considered tailoring to turn wear, holes and stains into part of a garment’s story. Projects range from practical alterations and invisible repairs to full restorations of sentimental or vintage clothing. The Austin studio, established as Eva Joan Austin LLC in 2025, brings this approach to Texas. It combines repair services with vintage clothing and secondhand treasures, positioning the space as both a neighbourhood resource for keeping clothes in use and a destination for distinctive, repaired and reimagined garments.
