About the practice

With a background in sewing and interior design, I have always loved creating. I find the idea of transforming cigar boxes so intriguing and the potential for their uses are endless! They have so much character with their various shapes, finishes and detailing. Many people collect these decorative treasures and use them for decor and storing things around their homes. But so many just get discarded. So beyond the joy that creating my designs brings me, I also feel pride that I am reducing waste (even in a small way!) My design process includes preparing these boxes by sanding, removing stickers, replacing latches and more. Then I decoupage elements such as decorative papers, recycled gift wrap or magazine cut-outs onto the boxes. I then finish by adding handmade handles, embellishments and lining. Many of my upcycled boxes feature themes like wine, cocktails and travel, and all are bold! I love that each of my handbags has a personality and tells a story.
