About the practice
My name is Ioana Topală, and I am a visual artist and the founder of the project Traistă și Păpușoi. I create handmade artistic objects using reclaimed textiles; each piece is unique and crafted with a story. My practice lies at the intersection of art, craft and sustainability, with a focus on fabric memory and visual expression. As part of this project, I work with the General Directorate of Social Assistance and Child Protection of Bucharest and various NGOs, where I give sewing and upcycling courses that support their beneficiaries in the process of professional retraining and the development of new skills.
