About the practice
I'm Ute, a freelance fashion designer (Dipl.-Mode-Designerin, HfK Bremen) with additional training as a pattern cutter. I've worked in the fashion industry for many years, both as an employee and as a freelancer, including two exciting years in Paris. As a product designer, I helped develop manduca baby carriers. These carriers have received design and sustainability awards. One of my ideas even led to a patent application. Designing baby carriers meant focusing on functionality, sustainable materials, and creating a safe product in which babies feel truly comfortable. This experience has had a huge influence on my work and enriched my approach to design. As a mother of three now-grown children, sustainable sewing is especially close to my heart. My designs are made to be durable, thoughtfully designed, and practical. And as you can probably tell, I've fallen head over heels in love with denim upcycling. It still hasn't lost its magic for me! ;) I want to create sewing patterns for you that are functional, fun to sew, and made to be used for years to come. I love the challenge of refining an idea until function and design work perfectly together, resulting in a sewing pattern that's practical and achievable.
