About the practice

In her work, Sarah chooses to re-use existing textile resources that are often embedded with narrative. Place, nature and heritage are important to Sarah and she explores how materials resonate with a particular story, place or the time they were made and used. By revising and repairing found cloth not only does she create new narratives, but she also brings their historical connections to a new audience. Sarah often lets her work take on its own life as it develops and can use light to imbue her pieces with added depth. Sarah is a creative textile workshop lead and loves inspiring others to re-use their resources in a new and exciting way. "My understanding of things is always changing. We are like leaves in a river, and the river is flowing, so when your angle changes, you'll see things totally differently.” Ai Weiwei
