About the practice

Amy Bauer is an artist, designer, educator, and community organizer whose work transforms discarded materials, everyday spaces, and collective creativity into immersive community experiences. Blending visual art, social practice, fashion, performance, and public programming, her projects invite people to see art not as something distant or exclusive, but as something lived, shared, and deeply connected to the world around them. Bauer is the creator of Fun-A-Day-LA, an annual creative challenge that invites participants to make art every day for one month and culminates in a community exhibition celebrating experimentation, process, and creative momentum. In 2026, the project celebrated its 10th exhibition, continuing her goal of making art accessible and communal. She is also the founder and producer of Trashion Show Long Beach, a large-scale runway event where artists and designers transform recycled and reclaimed materials into wearable art. Combining fashion, performance, activism, and spectacle, the event highlights sustainability through bold visual storytelling and imaginative reuse. In 2024, following the success of the first Trashion Show Long Beach, Bauer founded Creative Art Events, a nonprofit organization dedicated to uplifting community voices through arts programming focused on creativity and environmental stewardship. Her work brings together artists and local residents through workshops, exhibitions, and public programs that encourage collective creativity and sustainable practices. Bauer is also a sound artist with soundpedro, where she expands her trashion practice into immersive performance pieces. She integrates lighting elements, sculptural costumes, amplified found materials, and unexpected participatory interactions, her work explores sound as both atmosphere and community experience. Through her artistic and organizational work, Bauer continues to build platforms where art, sustainability, performance, and community connection intersect.
