About the practice
Claire is an award winning artist, designer and Green Grad nurturing dialogues about the potential of textile waste through storytelling, colour theory and sustainable materiality. She is a passionate advocate for the wellbeing benefits of making, hosting workshops including weaving with handmade paper and textile waste, and botanical painting using natural dye pigments. A recent MA Textiles graduate from Manchester Metropolitan University, she is also part of the Restoration Team at the Silk Museum Macclesfield working to restore Victorian weaving looms, enabling the heritage craft of weaving to be preserved and accessed by a wider audience. Claire's recent works include a Vitra DCM Plywood chair upcycled with waste materials, auctioned at The Furniture Practice's Summer Social to raise funds for The Peel charity. She also co-designed textile installation 'Grow' featured on the Threshold of Change at the Sustainable Design Collective Forum 2026; engaging visitors with the narrative of life-cycles and re-use within the interiors industry. At over 2.5m tall 'Grow' showcased bold, textural flowers handmade with offcuts donated by Gabriel Fabrics. "My creative practice shines a spotlight textile waste and the importance of adopting innovative design solutions that are better for people and planet."
