About the practice
Simply Milly is built around a practical and hopeful approach to sustainable style: clothing does not have to start out perfect to become something beautiful. Milly sources secondhand pieces through thrifting, then restyles, repairs or upcycles them into new looks, often sharing the transformation from what I thrifted to how I styled it. Her work includes garment upcycling projects such as transforming trousers into skirts, as well as styling experiments that encourage people to layer, mix patterns and rediscover clothes already in their wardrobes. In 2026, she documented a personal challenge to wear every item in her wardrobe before repeating an outfit, using the process to confront overconsumption and develop more creative ways of dressing with what already exists. Milly also created Burden and Brilliance, a collection made from clothes discarded in Europe. Through upcycling, she gave these garments a second life, framing the project as evidence that fashion need not end after only a few wears and that sustainability begins with valuing what already exists. Alongside making, Milly works as a fashion tutor and shares sewing, thrift-flip and DIY-fashion content, positioning her practice as both a creative studio and an educational platform for slow fashion.
